I get frustrated when I lose just a pound
or two after I’ve tried really hard all
week.
Many people long for a secret potion or
magic pill that will quickly remove
excess weight. Unfortunately, such a
remedy doesn’t exist. Losing 1 or 2
pounds a week may be frustrating if your
expectations are high. But slow and
steady is a healthy way to go, and by
doing it this way, the weight is much
more likely to stay off.
Follow these tips to keep yourself on
track.
-Don’t focus all of your attention on
the bathroom scale. Concentrate on
eating better and exercising more.
-Don’t consider yourself to be “on a
diet.” Try to adopt a positive outlook
with the goal of a healthier lifestyle.
-Make a list of all the benefits of losing
weight, such as having more energy,
improving your health and feeling
better about yourself. Refer to this list
if your motivation wanes.
-Don’t use life’s ups and downs as an
excuse to quit. If stressful events
occur, cut yourself some slack if you
need to, but stay with the program.
-Remind yourself that losing 1 to 2
pounds a week equates to about 50 to
100 pounds a year!
